A home for girls from socially and economically backward families was the requirement. There was an existing small house which accomodates the children and a place of their own with all the amenities was a dream of all of them. The building is designed in split levels with minimum circulation spaces by placing the staircase in the middle. It acts as spine which connects all the parts at mid levels. The sitout leads to the common verandah which connects the guest waiting area, common wash room, Warden's room, Office, Sick room and two individual rooms. Then comes the staircase which takes you down to the dining, kitchen and the care takers room. It takes you up to the rooms of the children of the smallest age group. There are two rooms for different age groups and toilet/wash facilities. The stairs further go up to the study area, recreation facility, library, store and the 3 individual rooms in that level and then go up to the level where the elder kids are there. The next level is having two rooms and a study space. There is a courtyard at the upper level and the stair room in the middle to make sure of the connection between all levels.
